Drug & Alcohol Detox Programs near Lakewood, WA

Lakewood, WA, situated to the south of Tacoma, has approximately 5 recognized drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers in the city district itself. With Tacoma located just to the north, in the general area of Lakewood, you will find approximately 14 recognized drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, of which 5 offer inpatient addiction treatment, including medically-assisted detoxification. Of these 5 rehab centers, 3 offer outpatient drug and alcohol rehab as well.

There are approximately 9 recognized drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers that only offer outpatient addiction treatment, though, for some people, this is sufficient to help get them sober, and to remain that way.

Depending on your level of substance abuse, detox could be the necessary first step in your recovery. This is because some substances, including alcohol and opiates, when abused heavily or for an extended period of time, can cause serious withdrawal symptoms, and can even result in death if they are not medically assisted.

For many substance abusers, withdrawal will be very uncomfortable. Addicts can experience a range of such withdrawal symptoms, most commonly nausea, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Detox centers can help to minimize these uncomfortable symptoms by administering medications and natural remedies.

If someone has only abused a substance on a very limited basis, it is possible for them to detox on their own at home. It is best, however, to first check with a medical practitioner or addiction specialist that this is absolutely safe to do so. Checking into a medical detox center is a far better option, as these facilities make the process safer and more comfortable.

Most health insurance companies will pay for detox, and you can click here to find out if your healthcare plan covers the cost of addiction treatment.

Drug & Alcohol Rehab Programs near Lakewood, WA

As mentioned previously, there are several drug and alcohol rehab centers in and around Lakewood. These facilities can provide medically-assisted treatment and rehabilitation services for those alcoholics and drug addicts who wish to get sober, and stay sober, either as an inpatient or an outpatient.

Inpatient rehab programs (IP) are residential, meaning that these treatment centers will accommodate addicts for a scheduled period while they adjust to their new sobriety. Rehab programs provide individual counseling and therapy, educational classes, and group support meetings to help patients avoid relapse in the future.

Other facilities, known as intensive outpatient programs (IOP), are non-residential. These facilities offer the same therapy and support as inpatient programs, but don’t offer the accommodation element. Instead, each patient is able to live at home, which can be more preferable to those with work and family commitments, reporting to the facility daily to visit with their counselors and attend group therapy.

Both types of rehab are valuable - recovering addicts should always take advantage of rehabilitation services, no matter whether they choose an IP, inpatient program/residential, or IOP, intensive outpatient program/non-residential.

Our Closest Outpatient Location: Northpoint Seattle (Bellevue)

Northpoint opened the doors of its first drug and alcohol rehab center in Boise, Idaho in 2009. Since then, Northpoint has opened 5 other locations in the Pacific Northwest - one of them being Northpoint Seattle in Bellevue, WA, a highly specialized outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment center.

Our outpatient rehab program offers patients the flexibility to maintain work and family commitments, while at the same time receiving a level of care comparable to that of a full-time inpatient program.

The combination of services that patients receive has proven highly successful in helping them to avoid relapse, and providing them with a structure for living a sober lifestyle. We understand that many people who need treatment simply can't sacrifice their personal or professional lives for months at a time to be in a position to receive it.

Outpatient rehab is a form of rehab that delivers the same behavioral therapy and holistic treatment that makes inpatient therapy successful. It is a form of rehab frequently used to "step down" from a more intensive inpatient program, or for people whose addiction isn't quite as severe.

With our outpatient drug and alcohol treatment Northpoint Seattle, we ensure your rehabilitation is at the most appropriate level for you. We do this by using the following criteria: the severity of your addiction, and then your professional obligations, family life, and medical coverage.

We utilize 3 distinct treatment levels to achieve this aim, in which patients are then provided with an individualized treatment plan - there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach at any of our rehab centers. These levels are:

  • Outpatient Program (OP): A traditional outpatient alcohol or drug treatment schedule, usually lasting 4-6 hours per week of therapy, along with additional psychiatric or family sessions as they are needed. Our OP is appropriate for less severe or short-term addictions, in which the patient must maintain full-time work or family responsibilities. Patients will need to commit to 6 hours per week.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Intensive Outpatient is exactly what it sounds like - outpatient drug or alcohol rehab on a higher-level and a more intensive schedule than other outpatient programs. IOP patients will need to commit to 15 hours per week, and is ideal for those who have moderate to severe addictions, but still need daytime hours free to satisfy their other obligations.
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Also known as Day Treatment, the PHP program is 6 hours per day, 5 days per week of therapeutic activity while allowing the patient to spend nights and weekends at home. This is our highest level of care, intended for severe or long-term addictions, as well as those who do not have daytime work requirements. Patients will need to commit to 30 hours per week.

Please note that Lakewood to Bellevue is just over an hour, mostly along Interstate 5.

A significant question for virtually everyone who is seeking addiction treatment. Thanks to the introduction of the Affordable Care Act, all private health insurance companies must now offer insurance coverage that covers treatment for both drug and alcohol addiction. Health insurance plans cannot now deny anyone coverage for having a pre-existing condition, such as a substance use disorder (SUD).

The cost of our completely individualized treatment at Northpoint Seattle is different for everyone, and is based on their specific addiction, background, and their mental health needs too. However, we endeavor to work with most insurance providers in the U.S. to provide you with the best possible coverage available.

Our Closest Inpatient Location: Northpoint Washington (Edmonds)

If you require an inpatient program of treatment, we can refer you directly to our nearest inpatient location: Northpoint Washington, in Edmonds, WA, which again is only 15 minutes by car from Shoreline. At our Northpoint Washington rehab center, we offer an excellent personalized inpatient program for both alcohol and drug detox and rehab, which provides the following benefits to you:

  • Stay for a few weeks in a safe & supportive environment
  • Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) and professional medical support 24/7
  • Dual diagnosis to address mental health issues
  • Reduce the likelihood of relapse
  • Focus all of your time and effort on recovery

Please note that Lakewood to Edmonds is less than 2 hours, along Interstate 5.
