A lot of people choose to attend Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. These organizations have helped millions of people recover from their addictions all over the world. There are also ways for families to get help and support through Al-Anon and Alateen.
The work that these programs do is so important. We are not affiliated with them, but we do recommend them. We felt they should be included here as one of the available addiction recovery resources in the Anacortes area.
There are several AA meetings that are held in the Anacortes area each week.

The City of Anacortes does not have any addiction recovery programs at all. But there are several in the surrounding communities.
The SAMHSA treatment locator tool indicates that there are more than 60 programs located within a 50-mile radius of Anacortes. They are a mixture of inpatient and outpatient facilities, and some also offer detox services as well.
In general, people need to choose between inpatient and outpatient treatment. In most cases, recovery program admissions staff do make recommendations. But ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide which type of care will work best for them.
Quite often, people who have been through an inpatient program in the past do quite well in outpatient treatment. They may need a more structured program like an IOP, but that can easily be accommodated. For those who are new to recovery, this might be appropriate as long as they have a good support system at home.
Inpatient rehab is appropriate for people who have never been through any type of treatment before. It is usually recommended for people with a history of relapsing, or who need to go through detox. It requires a personalized stay in a facility, where patients receive various forms of therapy.
At Northpoint Seattle, our outpatient program is excellent, and it includes three different levels of care. Our clients can participate in our more traditional outpatient rehab if they choose. Or, they can attend our partial hospitalization program, or our intensive outpatient program.
We understand that people recovery from addiction in many different ways. We know that our clients need the flexibility that they can find with an outpatient rehab. That is why we are committed to providing only the best possible care for our clients.
There are instances in which outpatient treatment simply is not the answer. Some people need a higher level of care. When they do, we recommend Northpoint Washington, our inpatient facility in Edmonds.
Northpoint Washington has a varied program that includes both drug rehab and alcoholism treatment. They offer detoxification services on site, as well. That makes the transition very easy when a patient needs to move from detox into rehab.
They have a 28-program, and that includes the time patients spend during the detoxification process. Their focus is on personalizing each patient’s recovery according to their needs. They also offer dual diagnosis treatment for anyone who is suffering from a co-occurring disorder, such as depression or anxiety.
It is not uncommon for people to put off going to rehab, or even getting information about it because of the costs involved. It can be quite expensive to go to a professional addiction treatment program. But what they do not realize is that because many of them have health insurance, it may be more affordable than they thought.
Health insurance companies are now required by law to provide addiction treatment service benefits to their customers. Some plans will cover detox and rehab in full. Others require people to pay a small co-pay. Still, this change has allowed so many more people to get the help they need to recover.
12-Step programs can work really well for a lot of people. But the reality is that they are not right for everyone. Some individuals need to begin their recovery journeys by going to treatment first. At Northpoint Seattle, we are here to help.
Our intensive outpatient program is among the best in the state. We also offer other services, and can refer to a local medical detox program for those who need detoxification services.
We are located about an hour and a half away from the Anacortes area. That makes going to treatment very convenient, as well as effective.
